Waddell was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Friday.
Waddell rejoined the Cardinals' bullpen Wednesday but didn't make any appearances during his latest stint with the major-league club. He'll head back to Memphis after right-hander Jack Flaherty (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday.
