Abbott was traded from the Cubs to the Diamondbacks in exchange for cash considerations Thursday, Russell Dorsey of Bally Sports reports.
Abbott was designated for assignment by the Cubs on Saturday but will now get an opportunity with the Giants. Since the right-hander began the season in the minors, he'll likely head to Triple-A Sacramento to begin his time with his new organization. He made two appearances with Triple-A Iowa early in the year and allowed three runs in six innings.
