Rickard was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.
Rickard is no longer needed in the majors with Colby Rasmus back from the disabled list, so he'll head back to the minors for some more consistent playing time. The 27-year-old outfielder hit just .203/.267/.405 across 29 games with the Orioles.
