Engel (hamstring) was reinstated off the 10-day injured list by the Padres on Friday.
Engel ended up missing well over a month with his hamstring strain. The outfielder will take the place of Jose Azocar with Azocar placed on the 10-day IL with left elbow inflammation. Engel should operate as a backup outfielder now that he's back on the roster.
