Spangenberg is out of the lineup Sunday against the Marlins.
Manager Andy Green has been regularly rotating Yangervis Solarte across three different infield spots in order to keep the veteran's bat in the lineup on a regular basis, and it will be Spangenberg's turn Sunday to head to the bench to open up a spot. It's the first time in August that Spangenberg will be excluded from the lineup, with the third baseman's surprising power surge allowing him to maintain an everyday role for the Padres. He's supplied five home runs and nine extra-base hits on the month, representing nearly a third of his total for the season in both categories.
