Hanhold signed a minor-league contract Wednesday with the Padres that includes an invitation to major-league spring training.
Hanhold spent the entire 2022 season with the Triple-A affiliate of the Pirates, pitching to a 3.40 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 49:24 K:BB in 53 innings of relief. The 29-year-old has surrendered 11 runs -- 10 earned -- in just 12.2 career major-league frames.
