Gale was promoted to Triple-A El Paso on Thursday.
Gale will take over behind the plate for Austin Hedges, who is out four-to-six weeks with a hand injury. The 28-year-old batted .244/.319/.244 in 13 games with Double-A San Antonio and now gets a chance to showcase his skills at the next level. Hedges is still considered San Diego's catcher for the future, but Gale has a shot to impress.
