The Phillies declined Herrera's $11.5 million club option for 2022, but he'll remain with the team and is eligible for arbitration, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Herrera inked the five-year, $30.5 million extension after the 2016 season, but the Phillies will take advantage of the $2.5 million buyout for 2022 rather than pick up the option. The 29-year-old appeared in 124 contests during the 2021 campaign and posted a .260/.310/.416 slash line with 13 homers, 27 doubles, 51 RBI, 59 runs and six stolen bases.
