The Pirates designated Vieaux for assignment Wednesday, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.
He was cast off the 40-man roster to clear room for another reliever in Junior Fernandez, whom the Pirates claimed off waivers from the Cardinals. Before being optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis last week, Vieaux struck out 15 over 8.2 innings with the Pirates but was tagged for 10 earned runs on 15 hits and five walks.
