Verdugo was placed on the paternity list Sunday, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.
Verdugo started the past 17 games for the Red Sox but will step away from the team for a few days in order to spend some time with his growing family. The 25-year-old should be back in action Wednesday or Thursday against the Rays.
