Edwards was promoted to Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Friday, MLB.com's Jeffrey Flanagan reports.

Edwards was recently reinstated from MiLB's disabled list after an undisclosed injury sidelined him just one game into the campaign. He made three appearances for High-A Wilmington, allowing one run over 5.2 relief innings since returning. Edwards is expected to move up to Triple-A Omaha (where he began the season) once the right-hander stacks some innings. The 25-year-old is a candidate to make his MLB debut out of the Royals bullpen later in 2017.
