Matias received an invitation Friday to Kansas City's major-league spring training.
The 22-year-old spent last season at the team's alternate training site, so he still got in some development time despite the cancelation of the minor-league season. Matias spent 2019 at High-A and had a .566 OPS in 57 games, and he won't have much of a chance to crack the Opening Day roster.
