  • Angels' Ryan Aguilar: Back in action at Double-A

Aguilar (oblique) has appeared in three games for Double-A Rocket City since being activated from the development list April 11, going 3-for-10 with two walks, two runs and two RBI in those contests. Now that he's moved past the oblique strain that slowed him in spring training, Aguilar should play on a near-everyday basis for Rocket City. The 28-year-old outfielder appeared in seven games for the MLB club in 2022, slashing .136/.231/.182 across 26 plate appearances.

  • Angels' Ryan Aguilar: Moved to minor-league camp

Aguilar (oblique) was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Angels on Friday. Aguilar has been dealing with a mild oblique strain in March, and he hasn't been able to play in the Cactus League. The outfielder went 3-for-22 with 14 strikeouts in his brief taste of MLB action in 2022, and when he's healthy he'll report to Triple-A Salt Lake as a depth option.

  • Angels' Ryan Aguilar: Nearing spring debut

Aguilar (oblique) is expected to begin playing in spring games next week, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports. Aguilar has been eased into action this spring because of a mild oblique strain, and he's been doing most of his workouts on the minor-league side of Angels camp. The 28-year-old is almost certainly headed for Triple-A Salt Lake to open the 2023 campaign after going 3-for-22 (.136) with 14 strikeouts in his first taste of MLB action last season.

  • Angels' Ryan Aguilar: Tending to oblique injury

Angels manager Phil Nevin said Wednesday that Aguilar hasn't appeared in any Cactus League games this spring due to an oblique injury, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Aguilar was up with the big club for two cups of coffee in 2022, slashing .136/.231/.182 in 26 plate appearances between the stints. The Angels moved him off the 40-man roster in September, but he elected to stay in the organization and received an invitation to big-league spring training. Though the oblique injury has likely ended any slim hopes Aguilar may have had of making the Angels' Opening Day roster, Nevin suggested he believes the outfielder will be ready to play in a few exhibition games before spring training comes to a close. If that's the case, the 28-year-old should be ready to go for the start of Triple-A Salt Lake's March 31 season opener.

  • Angels' Ryan Aguilar: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Angels outrighted Aguilar to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday. The 28-year-old outfielder no longer possesses a spot on the Angels' 40-man roster, but he'll stick around in the organization after going unclaimed off waivers. Over his 26 plate appearances at the big-league level, Aguilar slashed .136/.231/.182 with two RBI and two runs.

Aguilar was designated for assignment by the Angels on Friday. Aguilar hasn't seen the field since Monday and has now lost his spot on the team's 40-man roster. The 27-year-old appeared in seven games and has a .136/.231/.182 slash line in 26 plate appearances.

  • Angels' Ryan Aguilar: Rejoins active roster

Aguilar's contract was selected from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday. Aguilar made his major-league debut last weekend as a replacement player during the Angels' series in Toronto, and he went 2-for-11 with a double, two runs, two walks and six strikeouts over three games. He's slashed .280/.427/.517 with 15 homers, 55 runs, 48 RBI and 11 stolen bases over 88 games at Double-A Rocket City this season and should serve as outfield depth for the Angels now that active rosters have expanded to 28 players.

  • Angels' Ryan Aguilar: Filling in for Taylor Ward

Aguilar will start in right field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. With Taylor Ward (personal) on the restricted list for the series in Toronto, Aguilar will pick up his third consecutive start after going 1-for-6 with a double, two walks and two runs in his first two big-league contests. Aguilar will likely return to a bench role or perhaps even to the minors when Ward is reinstated ahead of Monday's series opener with the Yankees.

  • Angels' Ryan Aguilar: Scores twice in big-league debut

Aguilar went 0-for-2 with two walks and two runs in Friday's 12-0 win over the Blue Jays. Aguilar made his first big-league plate appearance in the second inning and worked a six-pitch walk. He subsequently scored on a David Fletcher double. Aguilar walked and scored again in the following frame, and he reached base again in the ninth after being hit by a pitch. Aguilar has put up a healthy .280/.427/.517 slash line with Double-A Rocket City this season, but it's unclear if he'll remain with the big-league club once Taylor Ward, who is missing the Toronto series due to being unvaccinated, returns to the lineup.

  • Angels' Ryan Aguilar: Contract selected, starting Friday

Aguilar had his contract selected by the Angels and will start in right field Friday against the Blue Jays, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. Aguilar has a .280/.427/.517 slash line with 15 home runs, 48 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 88 games for Double-A Rocket City this season, and he'll jump up to the majors Friday and make his MLB debut. The 27-year-old could work as the Halos' primary right fielder this weekend as Taylor Ward is on the restricted list and unable to travel to Canada due to being unvaccinated.
