  • Jason Krizan: Takes MiLB coaching role

Krizan has joined the minor-league coaching staff of the White Sox, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. Krizan is presumably now officially done playing and will move into the coaching ranks as the hitting coach at High-A Winston-Salem. He finally made his MLB debut last April at age 32 and went 1-for-8 with two walks and three strikeouts in three games with the Giants.

  • Giants' Jason Krizan: Outrighted off 40-man roster

The Giants outrighted Krizan to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday after he cleared waivers, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Krizan was initially optioned to Sacramento on Monday after the Giants needed to reduce their active roster from 28 to 26 men, but he'll now lose his spot on the 40-man roster. The transaction will make it tougher for Krizan to make his way back to the big leagues, after he received his first promotion to the majors last week following an 11-year, 1,132-game stint in the minors to begin his professional career.

Krizan was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. The 32-year-old will head back to the minors since San Francisco needs to trim its active roster to 26 players by Monday.

  • Giants' Jason Krizan: Making big-league debut Friday

Krizan's contract was purchased from Triple-A Sacramento and he will make his big-league debut Friday, starting in left field against the Nationals, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports. He played 11 seasons and 1,132 games in the minor leagues before getting this opportunity. Krizan was hitting .213/.333/.340 with one home run in 13 games at Triple-A, seeing time at first base and second base. He probably won't be up very long, especially with LaMonte Wade (knee) nearing a return.

  • Giants' Jason Krizan: Lands minor-league contract

Krizan signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Wednesday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports. Krizan has served as organizational depth with the Tigers and Mets during his career, and he'll likely play a similar role with the Giants in 2021. The 31-year-old wasn't included on the Mets' 60-man roster in 2020, but he had a .827 OPS with 14 home runs and 65 RBI between the Double-A and Triple-A level in 2019.

  • Tigers' Jason Krizan: Signs NRI deal with Tigers

Krizan agreed to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training with Detroit on Thursday. Krizan has spent 159 games with the Tigers' Triple-A affiliate over the past three years, and for the second straight season, he will receive an invite to spring training and another one-year minor-league deal. The 28-year-old slashed .264/.334/.377 with four home runs and 37 RBI for Triple-A Toledo in 2017, but hasn't recorded any time in the majors over his career. It's possible that he gets a look at some point this summer after gradually moving up through the minor-league ranks -- including earning a nod on the Eastern League's midseason All-Star team in 2016 -- but at this point, he will likely continue to hang around Toledo as additional outfield depth in case the injury bug hits the major-league club.

  • Tigers OF prospect Krizan to get some PT in the infield in 2015

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Thursday outfield prospect Jason Krizan will play some infield in 2015, per the Detroit Free Press. Krizan played second base in high school and 17 games at first base in Class A in 2013. He has primarily played in left field (293 games) in the minors, but he has also seen time in right (49 games) and center field (35 games). Krizan, who was selected in the eighth round of the 2011 MLB Draft, has a career .272/.354/.377/.731 slash line. "[Krizan is] a guy that, really, his swing and his bat look like they could play at the major-league level very soon," Ausmus said, per MLB.com. "But being a corner outfielder can be a tough spot sometimes to get in the lineup. So if he's got the ability to play multiple positions, kind of a super-utility, then you might be able to get him -- if his bat does play at this level -- into four, five, six games a week and play three different positions. So that's the thought process."
