Simmons and the Sixers remain at an impasse with less than a month remaining before the trade deadline, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Simmons' agent, Rich Paul, met with Sixers executives Daryl Morey and Elton Brand on Wednesday to discuss his client's future, but Wojnarowski notes that nothing tangible came out of the meeting. Simmons is "no closer to playing this season," while the Sixers remain intent on only trading Simmons for a big-name player who can help the team win immediately. Wojnarowski adds that the Sixers would still welcome Simmons back to the team, but at this point that scenario appears highly unlikely. If Simmons is not dealt before the Feb. 10 deadline, it would appear there is a good chance he'll end up sitting out the entire 2021-22 campaign.
