The Nets rescinded Brown's $1.18 million qualifying offer Wednesday, making him an unrestricted free agent, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Brown had initially been a restricted free agent, but the decision to rescind the qualifying offer means the Nets no longer have the right to match any contract he might receive from another team. The Nets could still theoretically retain Brown, but it's far less likely now than it was earlier in the signing period, especially after the team already secured a commitment from free agent guard Jeremy Lin.
