Gaines was claimed off waivers by the Browns on Wednesday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Gaines should help provide the Browns with added depth to a depleted secondary for Sunday's game. Whether he projects as a longterm mainstay seems uncertain at the moment. Either way, Gaines could be asked to help out during Sunday's contest.
