McDermott was carted off the field with a knee injury during Saturday's preseason contest against the Packers.
After primarily serving as a swing tackle over the past two seasons, McDermott signed a one-year contract extension to stick with the Jets this year. New York is already without backups Parker Ferguson and Teton Saltes for the season, so it would be a major blow if they lost another tackle to injured reserve.
