Drouin scored a goal on three shots in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Panthers.

Drouin, who returned from a one-game absence due to a non-COVID illness, got Montreal's first goal when he tipped a shot/pass from Sami Niku over Sergei Bobrovsky's right shoulder. The goal was the sixth for Drouin, who has 10 points over the last 14 games. The Canadiens are playing without several regulars who are injured or in COVID-19 protocols and relying on younger, unproven talent that started the season in the AHL. As such, it's incumbent upon a veteran like Drouin to pick up the scoring slack. Montreal's next four games, all at home, have been postponed, and the team will resume action Jan. 12 at Boston.
