Copley was placed on waivers by the Capitals on Monday.
Copley's demotion to the minors shouldn't come as a surprise given Ilya Samsonov (lower body) and Vitek Vanecek are locked in as the goalie tandem for Washington. Still, it's interesting that the team decided to move Copley to AHL Hershey while keeping Zach Fucale around a little longer.
