Brickley has been selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
The Hurricanes made one of the better deals of the day. They included a fifth-round pick with Brickley to ensure Vegas didn't nab a player such as Lee Stempniak. It's a smart play by GM Ron Francis, as Brickley spent the entirety of last season in the AHL. Even with the draft pick included, this was arguably the strangest selection of the entire draft. After totaling just 26 points in 69 AHL games last year, it's hard to imagine him carving out any fantasy value in 2017-18.
