Wahlstrom was a healthy scratch for the game Friday versus the Jets, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

This was the first time in nine games that Wahlstrom has been sat by coach Barry Trotz but not the first time it has happened this season. Trotz believes in tough love and seems to target Wahlstrom for his mistakes by making him ride the pine. It's a curious move by Trotz as the Isles generally struggle to score goals, so sitting one of their better shooters would seem not to be ideal. There is also the likelihood that the Isles aren't going to make the playoffs this season, so they should be playing their younger players as much as possible so that they make those mistakes now rather than when the games have more meaning.
