Smith wasn't able to start Monday's preseason game versus Calgary due to an illness, so he'll get between the pipes for Thursday's contest instead. The 39-year-old netminder is set to enter the regular season as Edmonton's No. 1 netminder with Mikko Koskinen serving as his backup.
