The Penguins placed Rust in COVID-19 protocols Saturday, Mike DeFabo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The news comes at a terrible time for Rust, who has seven goals and four assists in three games since returning from injury. He'll definitely miss Saturday's game and likely longer. Overall this season, Rust has nine goals and 11 assists in 15 games.
