The Penguins activated Rust (lower body) off injured reserve Sunday, Seth Rorabaugh of TribLive.com reports.
Assuming the forward is in the lineup Sunday against San Jose, it will be his first game since getting hurt Nov. 24. Rust, with two goals and seven assists in 12 contests this season, should return to his first-line role.
