Raanta was not taken by the Golden Knights in Wednesday's expansion draft, Larry Brooks of The New York Post reports.
Considering Raanta's name circulated for months as a possible choice by Vegas, it would seem likely that the Rangers negotiated a trade in order to avoid losing the netminder. Henrik Lundqvist is firmly entrenched as the No. 1, but Raanta has excelled in a backup role. When called upon this past season, the Finn performed well, posting a 16-8-2 record -- including four shutouts -- along with a 2.26 GAA.
