Red Wings' Andreas Athanasiou: Likely bound for KHL

Athanasiou's chances of leaving the Red Wings in favor of the KHL have increased to "more of a probability at this time," according to Darren Ferris, his agent, the Detroit Free Press reports.

If Athanasiou ends up taking his talents overseas, it will certainly draw the ire of the Wings faithful, as the 23-year-old possesses tremendous scoring upside for a team that ranked 26th overall with 2.41 goals per game in 2016-17. Various KHL clubs have reportedly made lucrative offers to Double A, amounting to more than what Detroit's club can afford to give, so it remains up to the man himself to finally decide whether he'll stay or go.
