Sabres' Alexander Nylander: Out of Prospects Challenge

Nylander will be held out for the remainder of the Prospects Challenge in Buffalo due to a lower-body injury, though the team notes that it is just for precautionary reasons.

Nylander was likely dinged up at some point during Buffalo's overtime loss to New Jersey on Friday night, but even if it's barely worthy of injury status, the Sabres won't want to risk one of their top prospects' health over some exhibition games. The 2016 eighth overall draft pick will have to impress mightily in camp to make the Opening Night roster, but it's more likely that he'll begin the season with AHL Rochester, where he can continue to build his size and skill set.
