Mittelstadt (upper body) was listed as day-to-day on the Sabres' injury report and according to coach Don Granato, the team hopes to have the center back within the next 2-3 games, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.

While Mittelstadt won't be available against the Stars on Thursday, he is at least trending in the right direction, which is good news for a Buffalo squad that just lost Kyle Okposo (upper body) and Vinnie Hinostroza (lower body) to week-to-week injuries. Once cleared to play, Mittelstadt should at least push for a top-six role, though the club could ease him back into action on the third line to start out.
