Forsberg (not injury related) has been assigned to AHL Belleville on a conditioning loan.
Forsberg has yet to see any NHL action this season, so he'll head to the minors to get a game or two in before rejoining the big club. The 28-year-old backstop posted a 3.36 GAA and an .897 save percentage in three appearances with the Hurricanes last year.
