Puempel was placed on waivers Sunday, Bruce Garrioch of TSN reports.
The 23-year-old has only been averaging 8:34 per game, and doesn't have a point in 13 games this season, so Ottawa felt they could find some better value elsewhere. Puempel might be able to find a zone in the minors, and if he does, he'll be one of the Senators' first call-up options. If he clears waivers, he'll report to AHL Belleville.
