Red Sox shut down pitcher Clay Buchholz

Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz received a PRP injection in his elbow and the team has shut down his throwing program, repots The Boston Globe.

Buchholz was seeking a second opinion on a strained flexor tendon, but his diagnosis did not change. Despite being shut down, manager John Farrell said Buchholz can still return later this season. He has not pitched since July 10.
