We've all seen hitters strike out on pitches in the dirt, but how about striking out on a pitch rolling in the infield grass? That's exactly what Rockies prospect Josh Fuentes did Friday night for the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Mets) right-hander Cory Burns slipped a bit in his delivery, so the ball bounced in the grass well short of the plate and rolled toward home. Fuentes decided to show a sense of humor and took a fake swing at the rolling ball. The home plate umpire then ruled it strike three. Harsh!

Here's the video:

I mean, yeah, technically that's a strike, but good grief. The umpire couldn't cut Fuentes some slack for the sake of comic relief? This is baseball. No reason to be so serious all the time.

By the way, how about those team names? The Yard Goats and Rumble Ponies. Clearly baseball is serious business.

The Rumble Ponies went on to win the game 5-4 (box score) after Fuentes' strikeout ended the eighth inning.
