  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Grounds Cardinals in quality start

Manaea (2-1) earned the win over St. Louis on Monday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out one batter over six innings.

Manaea didn't have his swing-and-miss stuff Monday -- he induced just four whiffs and recorded only one strikeout -- but that didn't stop him from keeping the Cardinals' bats mostly under control. The southpaw cruised through five scoreless frames before running out of gas in a three-run St. Louis sixth, but he was able to finish the inning to notch his first quality start since his first appearance of the campaign. Control issues have kept Manaea from going deep into contests this season, so it was promising to see him issue just one free pass -- his fewest of the campaign -- against the Cardinals.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Shaky control again Tuesday

Manaea came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Cubs, giving up one run on three hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out three.

For the fourth straight start, Manaea issued at least three free passes, but the veteran lefty was able to limit the damage before exiting with the score tied 1-1. He tossed 54 of 92 pitches for strikes, and while his 3.07 ERA on the season looks sharp, it comes with a 1.43 WHIP and 30:18 K:BB through 29.1 innings. Manaea will try to tighten things up in his next outing, which lines up to come this weekend in Tampa Bay.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Fans six in no-decision

Manaea did not factor into the decision in a win over the Giants on Wednesday, hurling 4.2 shutout innings while allowing four hits and four walks. He struck out six.

Manaea struck out the side in the first inning but got himself into trouble in the second after giving up two walks and a single to open the frame. Fortunately for the right-hander, he was still able to work his way out of it without seeing any runs come home while also working his way through a similar jam in the third. Manaea issued a season-high four walks in the contest and has surrendered multiple walks in all five of his outings to open the campaign. However, he's also limited opposing offenses to one or fewer runs three of his five starts.

  • Mets' Sean Manaea: Solid in no-decision

Manaea did not factor into the decision Friday against the Dodgers, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out three.

After allowing six earned runs to the Royals in his last start, Manaea pitched well against the dangerous Dodgers lineup. The Mets lefty managed to stifle the MVP trio of Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, as they collectively went 1-for-8 with one walk and two strikeouts. Manaea faces a much less daunting task in his next start, scheduled to come against the Giants on the road.
