  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Struggles early in quality start

Peralta (5-5) took the loss Thursday in Toronto after he gave up three runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks over six innings. Peralta surrendered a solo shot and a two-run homer during the opening frame, which was enough to pin him with the loss since the Brewers' offense managed just a single run. The 26-year-old held the Blue Jays scoreless from there, but it's the second straight start in which he's allowed multiple long balls. He's also failed to record more than five strikeouts in any of his past five outings. Peralta has yet to find much consistency this year with a 4.62 ERA and 61:25 K:BB through 60.1 innings.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Early exit in rout

Peralta (5-4) took the loss Friday as the Brewers fell 15-1 to the Giants, coughing up 10 runs (but only four earned) on eight hits and a walk over 2.1 innings. He struck out four. The entire Milwaukee club lost focus early in the game after Willy Adames was struck in the head by a foul ball while in the dugout and taken to the hospital. Peralta's own error helped contribute to the six unearned runs on his line. The 26-year-old had four quality starts in his five prior outings, so given the circumstances he can get a mulligan on this performance. Peralta will take a 4.80 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 58:23 K:BB through 54.1 innings into his next start, likely to come on the road next week in Toronto.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Snares fifth victory

Peralta (5-3) earned the win Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks over six innings against Tampa Bay. He struck out four. Peralta did a fantastic job slowing down one of MLB's top offenses, giving up all three of his earned runs on one swing of the bat with Josh Lowe swatting a three-run home run to plate Randy Arozarena and Harold Ramirez in the fourth inning. After opening up the season with seven or more strikeouts in four of his first six starts, Peralta has struggled to replicate his swing-and-miss numbers over his last three appearances, striking out five or fewer in each start. After tough matchups against the Rockies at Coors Field, the Dodgers and the Cardinals prior to playing the Rays on Sunday, Peralta and his fantasy managers should expect a more productive outing in his next projected start, which will likely come against the Giants.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Stumbles to third loss

Peralta dropped to 4-3 on the season in Monday's 18-1 loss to the Cardinals, allowing six runs on six hits and five walks while striking out four batters over 5.1 innings. Peralta fell behind early, surrendering a three-run homer to Nolan Arenado in the first inning. He rebounded to allow just one more run over his following four frames, but his outing ended after putting on two of the first three batters in the sixth, with both runners eventually coming around to score. Peralta had been pitching well coming into the contest, notching three straight quality starts during which he allowed just five runs while posting a 23:5 K:BB over 18 innings. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which is tentatively slated to be a tough road matchup against Tampa Bay this weekend.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Yields one run in victory

Peralta (4-2) allowed one run on three hits and two walks over six innings against the Dodgers on Monday. He struck out five and earned a win. Peralta cruised through five scoreless innings with little issue before a Max Muncy groundout finally put the Dodgers on the board in the sixth. Over his last three starts, Peralta has given up five runs over 18 innings (2.50 ERA) while recording a 23:5 K:BB. He's allowed two or fewer runs in five of his first seven starts, resulting in a 3.32 ERA. Peralta is projected to take the mound in St. Louis next week.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Racks up strikeouts

Peralta did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings in a 3-2 loss against Colorado. He struck out 10. Peralta diced up the Rockies and set down a season-high 10 batters on strikes. He worked through some traffic, as he stranded six runners. The righty is delivering another solid season for the Brewers with a 3.63 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 34.2 innings. His WHIP is at 1.27, which would be his highest mark since the 2019 season.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Strikes out eight in third win

Peralta (3-2) earned the win Wednesday, allowing two unearned runs on four hits and zero walks over six innings in a 6-2 win over the Tigers. He struck out eight. The only blemishes on Peralta's ledger came in the fourth. Nick Maton led off the inning by reaching on an error by Brian Anderson, and after the right-hander retired back-to-back hitters, Akil Baddoo and Jake Rogers posted two-out, run-scoring hits. However, both runs were unearned due to the leadoff error, and Peralta cruised through two more innings, lowering his ERA from 3.97 to 3.14. His eight strikeouts and zero walks were both season-best marks, and he currently sports a 31:9 K:BB over 28.2 innings. Wednesday's outing was certainly a bounce-back performance for Peralta, who had given up nine runs over his previous two starts, and he'll look to maintain the momentum during his next outing, which is tentatively scheduled for Milwaukee's upcoming three-game set in Colorado.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Tagged for loss

Peralta (2-2) took the loss Friday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings against Boston. He struck out four. Peralta nearly delivered a quality start as he recorded the first two outs of the sixth inning before walking consecutive batters. Hoby Milner then allowed both inherited runners to score, ruining Peralta's chance at a win. The 26-year-old only allowed one earned run over his first 12 innings of the season, but his last two starts have seen nine earned runs come across in 10.2 frames. He's lined up to face the Tigers in his next outing.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Ineffective in loss to Padres

Peralta (2-1) took the loss Saturday while allowing five runs on nine hits and one walk over five innings in a 10-3 loss against the Padres. He struck out five. Peralta was staked a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but he immediately wasted that cushion by giving up three runs over the first two frames. He was able to get through the next pair of innings unscathed but a two-run home run by Jake Cronenworth gave the Padres the 5-3 lead, sending Peralta to his first loss of the season. The 26-year-old was outstanding over his first two starts of the season, allowing one run over 12 innings, but he didn't have his best stuff against a tough San Diego lineup. He'll take a 3.18 ERA into a start that's lined up for next weekend against the Red Sox.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Picks up second win

Peralta (2-0) earned the win during Sunday's 6-1 victory over the Cardinals, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out seven. Peralta tossed three shutout frames before allowing an RBI single to Jordan Walker in the fourth, but he got out of the frame by retiring back-to-back batters. The right-hander's line Sunday was nearly identical to his first start, and he now has 14 strikeouts through 12 innings. Peralta is tentatively scheduled to pitch next against the Padres.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Fires 4.2 scoreless frames

Peralta tossed 4.2 scoreless innings in Tuesday's exhibition season finale. He allowed four hits and posted a 5:1 K:BB. Peralta was locked in during the spring, posting a 3.21 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB in 14.0 innings over four starts. He is lined up to start the Brewers' home opener, which will come April 3 against the Mets.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: No injury concerns for spring

Despite an announcement Thursday that Peralta won't participate in the World Baseball Classic, the right-hander has "no injury concerns" heading into spring training, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. The 26-year-old won't play with Team Dominican Republic this spring and will instead spend the entirety of camp with the Brewers as he aims to bounce back in 2023. Peralta was limited to 78 innings last season because of lat and shoulder issues, though he was still effective with a 3.58 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 86:27 K:BB.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Four scoreless innings Sunday

Peralta struck out four and allowed two hits in four shutout innings in a 4-3 extra-innings loss Sunday against Miami. He did not factor into the decision. Peralta was excellent in his third appearance since returning from a shoulder injury Sept. 25. He faced just one batter over the minimum and did not allow any baserunner to reach scoring position. The 26-year-old has been building his endurance after the injury, and Sunday's four-inning outing was his longest since tossing five frames Aug. 31. The Brewers are battling for the final wild-card spot in the National League and, should they make it, Peralta could be their Game 1 starter as Brandon Woodruff and Corbin Burnes are likely to pitch over the final three games of the regular season.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Starting Sunday

Peralta will start Sunday's game against the Marlins, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Peralta has worked two and 1.2 innings in two appearances since returning from the injured list Sept. 25. That said, it's unclear how deep into Sunday's game he'll be able to work, though the Brewers may be willing to push him a bit as they face a near must-win scenario to keep their postseason hopes alive.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Surrenders grand slam in relief

Peralta (4-4) blew the save and took the loss in Thursday's 4-2 loss against Miami. He allowed four runs on three hits and one walk while striking out three over 1.2 innings. Peralta entered Thursday's game up 2-0 in the seventh inning as a reliever and set down the side in order, but he cost the Brewers the game with a mistake to Avisail Garcia in the eighth. The 26-year-old loaded the bases on a couple of hits and a walk, and Garcia then tagged him for a grand slam to put the Marlins up 4-2 and saddle Peralta with his fourth loss of the season. Peralta has a 3.77 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 82:27 K:BB over 74 innings and is closing the campaign in a relief role.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Two innings in return Sunday

Peralta (shoulder) allowed two hits and a walk while striking out three in two innings in a 2-1 loss Sunday in Cincinnati. He did not factor into the decision. Peralta was activated before Sunday's game after spending time on the injured list with a shoulder issue. Since he did not have any rehab outings, it's no surprise that he lasted just two innings and tossed only 44 pitches. With nine games to go for Milwaukee, the lefty is likely to get one more start, next weekend against Miami.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Activated ahead of Sunday's start

Peralta (shoulder) was activated from the 15-day injured list prior to his start Sunday against the Reds. Given that Peralta last threw two innings Sept. 8 and has not gone on a rehab assignment, he may not be able to go deep enough to qualify for the win Sunday. If he stays on turn, Peralta should make one more start this season next weekend at home against the Marlins.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Returning Sunday in Cincy

Peralta (shoulder) will start Sunday's game against the Reds, Will Aldrich of MLB.com reports. He last threw two innings Sept. 8 and has been throwing off the mound for only a few days, so Peralta may not go deep enough to qualify for the win. If he stays on turn, he will line up for a final start next weekend at home against the Marlins.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Could return against Reds

Manager Craig Counsell said Peralta (shoulder) could pitch during the Brewers' four-game series in Cincinnati this weekend, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Peralta last pitched Sept. 8 against San Francisco when he exited the game early due to fatigue in his throwing shoulder. He also missed time earlier in the season due to a strain in the same shoulder. The Brewers currently have no starter listed for Sunday's contest against the Reds, so it is possible Peralta is re-inserted into the rotation then.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Cleared for mound work

Peralta (shoulder) threw off a mound Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Peralta took a key step forward by throwing off a mound, the first time doing so since hitting the injured list Sept. 9 due to shoulder fatigue. He'll likely need to prove his health in another side session or two, but he remains on track to return before the end of the regular season.
