With a frenzied first two days of free agency over, former Ravens safety Ed Reed is still a free agent on day No. 3, waiting to discover the next stop of his career.
It very well could be the Texans.
As we told you on Wednesday, Reed is visiting Houston on Thursday, and he also is supposed to meet with the 49ers and the Colts. But according to the Houston Chronicle’s John McClain, the Texans' front office wants to make sure Reed doesn’t escape from the building without a contract.
Obviously, Texans don't want Reed to leave today without signing to replace Glover Quin.

Reed said Thursday that a contract with Houston is not done but that he’s excited about taking his visit and that the two sides have "a few things to work out." I guess your level of anticipation could be determined by what you think “a few things” means, but McClain, for one, seems somewhat optimistic on his Twitter feed.

McClain also writes that Texans general manager Rick Smith used owner Bob McNair’s private plane to pick up Reed in his offseason hometown of Atlanta and bring Reed to Houston's headquarters -- something the longtime reporter doesn’t remember McNair doing before.
“This is classy, man,” Reed said. “This is southern hospitality.
But never fear, Texans fans. Even if Reed leaves without a contract and/or signs a deal somewhere else, another quality safety in Charles Woodson is still available in free agency.
