The Vikings scored on their first possession against the Lions on Thursday, but not before adding some early drama to this NFC North showdown.

The drama was mostly added by a Lions defense that forced two turnovers on Minnesota's opening drive. The only problem for the Lions is that neither turnover counted.

First, on a second-and-8 play for the Vikings from Detroit's 20-yard, Sam Bradford got nailed by Ezekiel Ansah, who forced a fumble on the play. Lions defensive tackle Haloti Ngata then picked up the ball and returned it to the Lions' 45-yard line.

Unfortunately for Detroit, the fumble recovery didn't count. After reviewing the play, officials ruled the Bradford's arm was going forward and that he threw an incomplete pass.

It was clearly the correct call, so there was no argument from the Lions.

Thing got even crazier on the VERY NEXT PLAY when Bradford was picked off by Glover Quin, who returned the ball all the way to Minnesota's 19-yard line. Unfortunately for Detroit though, Quin's pick was called back because Lions corner Darius Slay was called for pass interference.

If you're keeping score at home: That's two plays and two turnovers that didn't count.

To add insult to injury, the Vikings ended up scoring three plays later on a 5-yard run by Matt Asiata.

Asiata's touchdown tied the game at 7.

The game turned out in Detroit's favor, however, the Lions winning 16-13.
