Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was clearly hurt late against the 49ers and it appears the injury was as bad as it looked as Ryan reportedly has a separated non-throwing shoulder.

Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports reports that Ryan separated his left shoulder during the Falcons second-to-last drive. The bad news is that's not a fun injury. The good news is that's Ryan's non-throwing shoulder.

With 1:55 remaining, Ryan took a huge hit from Ahmad Brooks while passing the ball to Jason Snelling. He was clearly in pain and there appeared to be some discussion with Mike Smith as to whether or not Ryan could return in the game.

He did and he ultimately attempted a Hail Mary, but the Falcons couldn't get the ball further than about 40 yards down the field.

Ryan's injury is added on top of the insult of losing to the 49ers on Sunday, but it shouldn't be something that affects him over the long term.
