When it comes to the way games have been scheduled this year, one of the best things about the season so far has been the abundance of strong games to watch in the early window. We've seen Oklahoma and Houston kickoff at noon, as well as Louisville and Florida State.

It's a nice change of pace from putting every major game in primetime, meaning the average viewer can only pick one game to watch.

Unfortunately, that will be the case this week. For the first time this season, there isn't a game in that early window that's an absolute must-see, though there are some good games. While the biggest game of the weekend gets the primetime slot to itself for the most part, there are a few mid-day games worth watching that will be played at the same time, so get those remote skills sharpened.

All times Eastern

Marquee matchups

No. 11 Tennessee at No. 25 Georgia -- 3:30 p.m., CBS: Tennessee is coming off one of the program's biggest wins in recent memory, as it put an end to Florida's 11-game winning streak last week, and now it finds itself in the driver's seat in the SEC East. A position it could quickly lose against Georgia this weekend, as the Vols head to Athens for another huge SEC East matchup. Georgia has struggled the last couple of weeks on the road, needing a late comeback to beat Missouri two weeks ago, and getting crushed by Ole Miss last week. If the Bulldogs lose this game, they could basically be eliminated from division contention already, as they'd effectively be three games behind the Vols on the tie-breaker.

North Carolina at No. 12 Florida State -- 3:30 p.m., ESPN: While North Carolina isn't ranked at the moment, this is still a team that won the ACC's Coastal Division last season, and came close to knocking off Clemson in the ACC title game to make the College Football Playoff. So don't overlook this Tar Heels team as it heads down to Tallahassee to take on a Florida State team that has really struggled defensively. No team in the ACC is allowing more than the 35 points per game the Seminoles are, and that number climbs to 44 points per game against FBS opponents. Sure, Louisville has a lot to do with that, but Florida State has still allowed at least 35 points in each of those games against FBS teams. So with Florida State's defense, and North Carolina's explosive offense, this game could be extremely fun and rather wild.

No. 8 Wisconsin at No. 4 Michigan -- 3:30 p.m., ABC: This is actually the first time these Big Ten stalwarts will have played since 2010. That was back when the Big Ten's name was only slightly misleading with 11 teams. It will be very interesting to see if Wisconsin can provide a true test for Michigan, because outside of one quarter against Colorado, this Wolverines team has dominated everybody that's been put in front of it, including Penn State last week. Wisconsin, on the other hand, has been somewhat unpredictable. It opened the season with a win over LSU, but struggled two weeks ago against Georgia State, and then followed that up with a 24-point win over Michigan State on the road last week. Which Wisconsin team shows up Saturday?

Oklahoma at No. 21 TCU -- 5 p.m., Fox: This is an important Big 12 game. While Oklahoma has been largely written off as a contender this season, it's important to remember that the Sooners have lost to Houston and Ohio State -- two very good teams. The Sooners are still a strong contender in the Big 12 this season, and can prove that with a win over TCU on Saturday. Of course, if you're the Big 12, it's probably in your better interests that TCU wins this game. That way, it keeps the Horned Frogs alive in the CFP discussion, and another Oklahoma loss would actually hurt Houston's credibility in the long run, thereby improving the Big 12's odds of getting a playoff berth. Playoff machinations in early October!

No. 3 Louisville at No. 5 Clemson -- 8 p.m., ABC: The game everybody is looking forward to this weekend. Clemson entered the 2016 season as a national title favorite, with the Heisman Trophy candidate at quarterback. Now, a month in, and Louisville has basically taken its place thanks to the phenomenon that is Lamar Jackson right now. The last time we saw Lamar and the Cardinals in a spotlight matchup, they destroyed Florida State. Can they go into Memorial Stadium and do the same thing against a Clemson team that has won 18 straight at home, and 33 of the last 35? This is a huge game for both teams, because if Louisville gets the win, it's hard to imagine a scenario in which it doesn't win the Atlantic Division.
