NEW YORK (AP) - Michael Alvarado swiped eight steals and Manhattan forced 21 turnovers in a 73-51 win over Marist Thursday night.
The Jaspers (17-7, 10-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) scored 27 points off of turnovers, and 42 in the paint, helping to lead to 46-percent shooting (29 of 63).
It was the eighth straight win for Manhattan, which held the Red Foxes (7-15, 2-9) to 37.7 percent from the field (20 of 53). Manhattan entered ranked 23rd nationally with a field goal defense of 39.1 percent.
George Beamon was Manhattan's only player in double figures with 10 points, as 10 of the 14 Jaspers who saw the court scored.
Marist, which trailed the whole way, got off to a slow start, hitting just 9 of 25 in the first half (36 percent) to trail 32-22.
Isaiah Morton and Chavaughn Lewis added 11 points each for the Red Foxes, who lost their eighth straight.
