Blue Jays' Zach Thompson: Acquired by Toronto

Thompson was acquired by the Blue Jays from the Pirates on Tuesday in exchange for Chavez Young.

Thompson had been designated for assignment last week and he now has a new home. The right-hander put up a 5.18 ERA for the Pirates in 2022 while splitting time between the rotation and bullpen. He should have a chance to compete for a rotation spot in Toronto but could wind up in a swingman role again.
