The Braves designated Schebler for assignment Thursday.
Schebler was acquired from the Reds shortly before Opening Day to provide the Braves with some extra depth in the outfield, but he didn't see any use off the bench until he appeared as a pinch hitter in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Blue Jays. He'll cede his spot on the 40-man and 28-man roster to reliever Will Smith, who was activated from the COVID-19 injured list in a corresponding move.
