Shipley was knocked around in Sunday's loss to the Padres, allowing seven runs on seven hits and a walk across 5.1 innings. He struck out five.

The rookie was hit hard for the second straight outing, yielding five extra-base hits, inculding a pair of home runs as he fell to 2-3. Shipley allowed just two runs in three strong starts following a rough big league debut, but he has come crashing down to Earth in 10.1 innings since and has seen his ERA rise to 5.45. With Arizona having little to play for at this point, they are likely to allow Shipley to work through his struggles, and he will look to do so Friday versus the Reds.
