Allen struck out one during a perfect ninth inning to capture his 27th save of the season Wednesday against Detroit. He also helped Cleveland break the American League record with its 21st straight win.

The Tribe's closer hasn't given up an earned run in his last 15 appearances, a stretch in which he's surrendered just six hits while striking out 18 over 13.1 innings. Allen has notched five saves and a win through six appearances this month, and the 28-year-old has his ERA down to 2.56 -- its lowest point since late June. He's now on pace to nail down 30-plus saves for a third straight season.
