Zimmer signed a minor-league contract with the Red Sox on Friday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Zimmer was just released by the Dodgers, so it appears this deal was already in the works. The veteran outfielder has managed just a .665 OPS at the Triple-A level this season but will give the Red Sox some experienced outfield depth.
