Alfaro has opted out of his minor-league contract with the Red Sox, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

The Red Sox now have 48 hours to either add him to the roster or release him. Alfaro has batted .320/.366/.520 with six home runs and four stolen bases across 43 games with Triple-A Worcester, so there could be some interest from other clubs if Boston cuts him loose.
