Farrell was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.
Farrell is tentatively in line to work out of the Reds' bullpen for now, but with rookie Luis Castillo set to make his final start of the season Wednesday against the Brewers, a spot in the rotation will open up next week. Amir Garrett is expected to receive the first crack at replacing Castillo, but if he falters in that capacity, Farrell could get a look in a starting role before the season winds down. Across 116.2 innings in the minors this season, Ferrell has compiled a 4.78 ERA and 117:46 K:BB.
