Rondon was promoted by the Tigers on Friday prior to their game against Boston.
Following the release of reliever Francisco Rodriguez, Detroit brought Rondon up from Triple-A Toledo. Rondon hasn't pitched for the Tigers since early April, when he allowed six earned runs combined during his last two appearances without managing to record two outs in either contest. He will get another chance with the team, but the 26-year-old needs to improve in order to stay up for any prolonged period of time.
