The Jets have claimed Tye off waivers from the Giants, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Tye will give the Jets some useful depth at tight end, with Austin Seferian-Jenkins suspended for the first two games of the 2017 season. He joins an unproven group at the position, which also includes Eric Tomlinson, Jordan Leggett and Jordan Vander Laan. It's therefore plausible that Tye could quickly carve out a role with the Jets once he's up to speed with the team's offense.
