Fumagalli was released by the 49ers on Tuesday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Fumagalli was buried on the 49ers' tight end depth chart, so this move is not too surprising. He was competing to provide depth at the position, as well as contribute on special teams. The 28-year-old is now set to look for a new opportunity, unless San Francisco decides to offer him a role on its practice squad.
